Tattoos and mid-life crises

I've never been a great journal keeper so this will probably be my first and last post on this blog. It's supposed to help me focus on the creative side of my life and ease me back into the habit of writing. We'll see.

So....thought for the day.... I underestimated how awkward blogging would make me feel.

The question pre-occupying me today is not whether or not to get a tattoo but where I should put it.

It's not as simple as it sounds. I thought my foot was the obvious area - easy to cover up if necessary but nice for showing off in sandals and barefoot. I had the design all sorted out. But I've been hearing horror stories about how painful the foot is for tattoos and also how much more quickly they fade due to the constant wearing of socks and shoes. So maybe the ankle would be better. Decisions, decisions.

Anyway, I have a whole year to change my mind multiple times. The tattoo is part of my version of a mini mid-life crisis which I plan to have throughout next year as I approach the ancient age of 40. I have a whole list of things to do during this mid-life crisis. Maybe if I stop obsessing about getting a tattoo I'll actually manage to achieve some of the other things on my list.
